MTTI is accepting applications for the following positions:
Anatomy & Physiology Instructor Hands-On Massage Therapy Instrctor Clinic Supervisor
Teaching Position: Anatomy & Physiology Instructor
This is a part-time teaching position where instruction occurs 5.25 hours a day, two days a week, for 24 consecutive weeks not including official MTTI holidays.
Educational Requirements: Be a Registered Massage Therapy Instructor with the NM Massage Therapy Board, OR have a minimum of a Bachelors Degree from an accredited institution of higher education in the area of science of human physiology. A Masters Degree in related areas or higher preferable. Teaching experience is highly preferable.
Course work to be taught: Anatomy, Kineseology, Physiology, Pathology, General Theory of Massage Therapy, Contraindications of Massage Therapy, Hydrotherapy, Business, Professional Ethics, Functional Assessment, Asian Medicine and Energy Modalities and Pharmacology, and Applied Psycology.
Textbooks utilized are:
Massage Therapy: Principles & Practice The Muscle and Bone Palpation Manual Musculoskeletal Anatomy Coloring Book
These courses utilize a variety of video tapes both produced in-house and professionally.
All faculty are required to do student evaluations at the end of each month to monitor and help assure that students are functioning at the level of Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and attend brief Monthly Faculty Meetings. All faculty are required to participate in and be part of the Curriculum Review Committee (CRC), the school’s Advisory Board and attend required In-Service and Professional Development meetings. All faculty are required to be evaluated by the students using the Student Evaluation of Faculty, Courses and School forms 3 times during the course of the program. The director/administrator will conduct at least one formal Classroom Observation/Evaluation per year that will be based on classroom observation, student evaluation, position descriptions, and achievement of any existing goals, if any.
Teaching Position: Hands On Massage Therapy Instructor
This is a part-time teaching position where instruction occurs 5.25 hours a day, two days a week, for 24 consecutive weeks plus nine scheduled Fridays not including official MTTI holidays.
Educational Requirements: Be a Registered Massage Therapy Instructor with the NM Massage Therapy Board and have a working/teaching knowledge of the following massage and exercise modalities, all of which constitute the hands-on curriculum.
Course work to be taught: Swedish Massage, Sports Massage, Side-Lying Massage, Side-Lying – similar to Trager, Prenatal & Infant Massage, Chair Massage, Clinical Practicum, Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), Elderly Massage (& Diabetic), Active Isolated Stretching (AIS), Muscle Energy Techniques (MET), Structural Assessment w/Prescriptive Exercises, Positional Release Techniques (PRT), Myofascial Release (MFR), Neuromuscular Therapy (NMT) I - IV, Orthopedic Massage Therapy and Applied Psychology.

Faculty/Staff Position: Clinic Supervisor (CS) of MTTI’s Student Clinic
The MTTI Clinic Supervisor (CS) is paid to be available in the event that students, who will be doing their Internship Practicum massages, may need their assistance, help or guidance and is rented a therapy room in order to conduct a private practice. The CS will supervise the students managing the clinic for proper telephone answering skills, customer service skills, setting appointments, taking payments, doing SOAP notes, cleaning up work areas after massages, etc. The CS will be responsible for each end-of-day tabulation of MTTI “rental” charges for the massages conducted at the Student Clinic. The CS will be responsible for reviewing, on a random basis and until judged satisfactory each student’s SOAP notes giving them feedback as to quality and content. Initially, at the beginning of each class Practicum, the CS may be called upon to answer questions that students have which are usually of the nature of contraindications. However, it has been the school’s experience that after the first week of two, it is rare that students seek out the CS for help or guidance and the bulk of time can be devoted to seeing their private clientele.
Educational Requirements: The New Mexico Massage Therapy Board (MTB) requires that supervisors of Clinical Practicums be Registered Massage Therapy Instructors (RMTI). This requires that an individual (1) be willing to take 50 in-service training hours and (2) have had their license as a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) for no less than two years. MTTI provides this 50 hours of training at no cost to the person that might be hired for the CS position in the event that they are not currently registered as an RMTI.
