Financial Aid at MTTI
The Financial Aid Department has been established to provide assistance through grant and loan programs to qualifying students. The financial need of the student is assessed before financial aid is provided. This policy is based on the premise that the primary responsibility for financing an education belongs to the student. A financial aid package, which includes information and an application for grant and loan programs, is provided for each student. The student is not required to accept all forms of financial aid offered. All outstanding tuition not covered by financial aid will be the sole responsibility of the student. All applicants must see a Financial Aid Officer to complete the necessary documentation. The Financial Aid Department recognizes that each student’s situation is unique; therefore, each application is kept confidential and is analyzed and considered on an individual basis. All necessary paperwork must be promptly submitted before Title IV funding is disbursed.
General Eligibility Requirements
Have financial need; have high school diploma or GED; be accepted for enrollment as regular student in eligible program; be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen; have valid Social Security number; make Satisfactory Academic Progress; sign statement on FASFA certifying you will use federal student aid only for education; sign statement on FASFA certifying you are not in default on a federal student loan or owe money back on federal grant; register with Selective Service, if required.
All financial aid awards are based on information provided by the student and parents, availability of funds, and eligibility requirements. Any award may be revised based on changes in enrollment, const of attendance, family contribution, or failure to meet satisfactory academic progress. Withdrawals may affect an award or any future awards. Questions on eligibility for financial aid should be address to the Financial Aid Department. Students must keep the Financial Aid Office advised of any potential changes that could effect financial aid.
Entrance and Exit Interviews
Whether or not to borrow to pay for your education is an important decision, and one only you and your family can make. A good education is expensive, but usually worth the investment of time, effort and money.
Entrance Interviews: The Financial Aid Office will discuss the rights and responsibilities of the student as a borrower.
Exit Interviews: The Financial Aid Office will conduct an exit interview with each student any time between the second disbursement of the student’s loan and graduation.
